Becoming more every day...

About 1 % of the world population suffers from celiac disease. But the saddest thing is that only 5 % of celiac patients have been diagnosed.

Many people suffer from this disease with out knowing and at the end of their lives they die from tumors, cancer or other similar diseases caused by the simple fact of not been following a gluten-free diet.

Recent studies show that every 15 years is doubling the number of people affected by celiac disease. It has even come to speak of "epidemiological explosion" . These studies were performed with stored blood samples from the 50´s and 70´s respectively.

Studies also demonstrate that the loss of tolerance to gluten can happen at any time of your life. This may be because nowadays people consume more grains that are richer in gluten than in the past decades and this acts as a trigger for the disease.

According to Celiac Disease DNA tests, this disease is most common in Caucasian and people from Europe. In the United States, the prevalence is 1 in 100 to 150 people. Moreover the prevalence of Celiac Disease in children's whose age are from 2 to 25 years old in Europe and the United States is approximately 1 in 80 to 300. But also woman seem to have a higher incidence of Celiac Disease than men.

So that is why research need to continue. The more investigation it is made the less people will suffer.
